Getting to Plymouth
Plymouth is well versed in playing host to events that attract people from all over the UK and also all over the world. Every event is bespoke and we have multiple ways of helping your delegates feel looked after when travelling to the city. A few examples of how we have supported events in the past:
- Private shuttle buses from Exeter Airport
- Delegate rates with Great Western Railway
- Dedicated and staffed welcome desks at both the train station and the coach station on arrival days
- Event Bus service, designed specifically to drop off and pick up delegates at key hotels, relevant venues, city tourist spots and transports hubs
- Private hire cars for FamTrips
- Reduced Taxi rates during the conference
We are dedicated to making sure your delegates are supported in each and every way during their event, this includes helping with transport to the city and also around.
Plymouth is pleased to partner with First Great Western to offer you reduced return ticket fares for when you attend your Plymouth event. The arrangement allows for anyone attending the event to benefit from set rates from various areas of the UK. All the prices are based on return tickets and offer a flexible and convenient transport option.
If you feel a number of your delegation are looking to travel this way, our tourist information centre are happy to set up a manned welcome desk to offer advice and directions for your delegates.
The A38 trunk road conveniently links Plymouth with the M5 and the national motorway network. The A38 leads perfectly into the city centre and allows simple connections to both hotels and venues. It is an easy drive with great access from all over the UK.
National Express offers a fast and reliable service to Plymouth and the surrounding areas. Plymouth’s Bretonside Coach Station is centrally located and close to all the city’s amenities. If you feel a number of your delegation are looking to travel this way, our tourist information centre are happy to set up a manned welcome desk to offer advice and directions for your delegates.
Exeter Airport is located 1hour away and offers a straight forward connection to the city centre. The route from the airport is direct and transfers are simple to organise via private taxis, coaches or even our reduced rail rates.
Travel Around the City
Part of Plymouth’s key appeal as an event destination is its convenience for delegates. The cities largest conference venue (Plymouth Pavilions) is located in the heart of the city and within 10 minutes or less walk of over 3000 surrounding rooms within hotels and other accommodation. Not only this but the combination of a vibrant city centre and picturesque waterfront offers a range of dining, tourism and hospitality options for delegates.
To encourage delegates to enjoy the city and what it has to offer, we are able to put on dedicated bus services during the event. This will have stops at all major hotels and areas of interest. The route not only includes the train & coach stations but also a number of tourist hot spots such as the historical Barbican and picturesque Hoe.
Aside from the bus route, we can supply reduced price taxi, special taxi ranks placed around the city and also a number of hire car options.
However, as mentioned above, we find a vast number of delegates take advantage of Plymouth’s convenient city layout and that they are always in walking distance of their venue, top class restaurants, hotels and much more. To support this we have available a PDF version of the city map and also printed versions available from the cities hotels, Tourist Information Centre and events venues.
This city map demonstrates the range of options delegates will have on their doorstep.
